![]() Much to my surprise I got an email yesterday saying my service time was expiring and they would automatically charge $19.95 to the credit card I previously used to renew my annual service. The email offer from Iolo and the receipt I received said NOTHING about a recurring monthly charge of $19.95 for "live support service." I would never have agreed to anything like that. Now for my most recent renewal in May 2023 I paid about $32 for another year of service which I thought was a little steep but I guess everything's costing more these days. I've been using System Mechanic software for years on my PC with no problems, generally paying about $20/yr or so to add more time. I had to demand an official email stating that the bogus "subscription" to live support was cancelled. It was a very unpleasant transaction and the agent was moronic. It was appalling- the robotic rep would simply not take NO for an answer until I threatened to pull the account and report them to my credit card company, the BBB and websites such as Trustpilot and all the well-established software review sites. I received an email about it and promptly called to cancel future charges. But I was shocked to find how horrible the experience would be. ![]() I made note of this while researching reviewing sites where they mentioned you need to watch out for this sales tactic. HOWEVER- they are extremely aggressive about adding on 24-hour support at the ridiculous cost of 19.95 per month, plus try to get you to add on/"upgrade" to a more costly version. Program is OK but seems a bit unpredictable.
